Established in 1995 by Greek-Cypriot businessman Stelios Haji –Ioannou, Easyjet has grown rapidly to become the UK’s largest airline in terms of passengers carried and operates domestic and international scheduled services on over 600 routes across more than 30 countries.
Easyjet along with its main rival Ryanair now dominate the low cost airline market in Europe. Their approach is to keep costs to a minimum by having few empty seats, quick turnaround times and charging passengers for “extras” such as hold luggage, priority boarding and food.
Unlike Ryanair, Easyjet mainly fly to primary airports in the cities it serves rather than secondary towns some distance away, this is one reason why Easyjet is the preferred low cost airline for business passengers.
